Brett L. Scott
Security Expert, Systems Architect and White Hat Hacker

Starting his career as a Programmer, Brett is passionate about technology and its applications to our daily lives. He has worked for small businesses through global enterprise corporations. His knowledge and expertise offer unique insights and perspectives into technologies and the implications/advantages of their use.

Brett co-founded The Arizona Cyber Warfare Range, a leading entity in cybersecurity in the United States. His experience has been mostly in the private sector but he has experience fighting terrorism, sex trafficking, finding missing persons, and cyber warfare.

Brett also is an experienced white-hat hacker. Brett’s passion for technology and programming quickly gained the notice of many other hackers in the world. In the world of hackers, Brett is original “old school”. With experience dating back to the 1990s. Brett has been there while most of hacking history was made. He has in-depth practical skills in hacking. Combined with his continuing experience with The Arizona Cyber Warfare Range his practical knowledge continues.

Brett is highly vetted, has extensive experience working with governments, and is fully in tune with the minute by minute changing world of cyber warfare.

He brings an in-depth perspective on cybersecurity topics, and his broad base of experience is invaluable in helping others understand complex topics easily.

Cathy Belk
President - JumpStart, Inc.

Two decades of work at a variety of large businesses ultimately led Cathy Belk to an organization focused on helping smaller ones grow.

 A veteran of The Coca-Cola Co., Procter & Gamble, Bank of America and American Greetings, Belk is president of JumpStart Inc., a Cleveland-based venture development organization investing in startups and providing business assistance to a variety of small businesses.

Belk previously served as JumpStart’s COO and Chief Relationship Officer before being named president in 2016. Prior to JumpStart, she spent more than 20 years in marketing and business management in the private sector, developing new businesses and commercializing innovations. In her current position, she works across all areas of the organization to help achieve JumpStart’s core mission. Alongside the CEO and other senior leaders, she also helps to manage JumpStart’s relationships with collaborators, funders and other community partners.

Belk has a strong passion for helping women become successful entrepreneurs and believes strongly in the power of diversity and inclusion to build stronger businesses and transform communities. She is a published thought leader and popular speaker on issues of female entrepreneurship and access to capital and business assistance for underserved communities.

Belk is a graduate of Leadership Cleveland and a Crain’s Cleveland Business "Woman of Note” (2018). She serves as a board member for the Cleveland Leadership Center and the Shaker Schools Foundation, the Chicago-based New Growth Innovation Network and Forward Cities in Durham NC. She received her MBA as a Keller Scholar at Duke University and also holds a BA in economics from Davidson College. She and her husband live in Shaker Heights and have two sons.

Denise M. Douglas, Ph.D.
Dean, Social Sciences & Human Services - Lorain County Community College

Dr. Denise Douglas has more than 20 years of leadership experience in both private and public higher education institutions. Dr. Douglas is currently the Dean of Social Sciences and Human Services at Lorain County Community College where she provides oversight for the instructional programs and services offered through the division which includes disciplines and programs in Criminal Justice, the Police Academy, Early Childhood Education, Teacher Education, The Children’s Learning Center, Economics, Human Services, History, Public Administration, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology.

Prior to her role at Lorain County Community College, Dr. Douglas served as the Associate Dean of Executive Education at the Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University, where she led a staff of 16 with responsibilities for over 70 open enrollment professional development programs, custom corporate solutions, executive coaching, signature programs such a Leadership Deep Dive, the Executive MBA (EMBA), and operations.

During Dr. Douglas’ 17 year career at Case Western Reserve University, she was instrumental in forming partnerships with individuals across several university departments to launch professional development programs such as the Women Staff Leadership Development Institute (WSLDI) and the university level Professional Development Center. 

Dr. Douglas is also the President of Career Spark, LLC a leadership development, coaching, and educational practice. She is certified to deliver and interpret the Emotional and Social Competency Inventory (ESCI), as well as other leadership and career development assessments. Dr. Douglas holds two coaching certifications, BCC (Board Certified Coach-CCE) and ACC (Associate Certified Coach-ICF) and has practiced as an executive coach for over 10 years.  Her passion is women’s leadership development.

In 2012, Dr. Douglas was selected to attend the ACE National Women’s Leadership Forum.  In 2009, she was awarded the President’s Distinguished Service Award (Case Western Reserve University). Other awards and recognition include the YWCA Woman of Professional Excellence (2007), Kaleidoscope Magazine’s 40-40 Club (2007) and selection to attend the prestigious HERS Summer Institute for Women in Higher Education (2005).  

Dr. Douglas holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Educational Policy and Administration from the University of Minnesota and a B.A. in English Literature from George Mason University.  She has two grown sons and lives with her husband in the Cleveland area.   

Dr. Kate O’Hara
Assistant Professor of Research for STEM Education, Cleveland State University

Dr. Kate O’Hara is an assistant professor of research for STEM Education in the College of Education and Human Services at Cleveland State University. At CSU, Dr. O’Hara teaches Project Based Learning for the CSUTeach program which licenses secondary math and science majors.   As well, she spends a considerable amount of time in the field supervising and coaching pre-service math teachers.  Dr. O’Hara is also part of the STEMM Education Center at CSU where she leads professional development in Project Based Learning and Engineering is Elementary. 

Crystal M. Franklin, M.Ed.
Project Coordinator, CSforALL CLE

A key member in the CSforALL CLE community, Crystal coordinates the teams’ efforts to build capacity for all students to achieve computer science literacy as part of their K-12 educational experience. Crystal has long had a passion for helping people and improving her community, and now that has led to work to provide Computer Science to every student, in every school in CMSD. That drive has led to a highly successful career as a public health advocate and educator, which literally took her around the world to destinations such as Guyana, China, and Brazil.

In 2016, Franklin was recognized for her work at a White House-sponsored United State of Women Summit.

With her Master of Education in Community Health, her goal is to become the best public servant possible. “Community is not just the people you live around, work with or even share a dwelling with. Community is everyone you encounter - on a bus, a train or just walking down the street. So everywhere I go, I do my best to foster a feeling of community with everyone in my circle,” she says.
